    Deposition: Anne, w, of Ambrose Crouch, Barton, lab. 4 March 1678. Mary Field and Mary and Eliz. Draper came to her house, used throat, broke windows and wall and stole linen. The informacon of Anne the wife of Ambrose Crouch of Barton in this County Labourer taken upon oath this 4th day of March 1677 before me Wm Daniel Esq one of his Maties Justices of Peace for this County against Mary the wife of John Field of Barton Baker Mary Draper & Elizabeth Draper of the same parish spinsters. This Informt being duly sworne saith that upon Wedensday last being the 27th of February about 7 of the Clocke at night Mary Field the wife of John Field of Barton Baker and Mary Draper & Elizabeth Draper of the same parish spinsters came into this Informts house & staid a while pretending to come for drinke but this Informt having none they went out of the house giving her ill language & threatening to doe her a mischief, & as they went out of her yard they took 2 or 3 of this Informts faggots with them. And about an houre after the said Mary Field Mary Draper & Elizabeth Draper came into her yard & with sticks broke this Informts windows. And about an houre & a halfe after that this Informt being in bed with her children heard a noise in her house & rising to the window she saw after a little while by the light of the Moon the said three persons Mary Field Mary & Elizabeth Draper come out of her barne & goe out of her yard, And this Informt goeing downe staires found a wall broken into her house next the barne & 3 sheetes 2 shifts & other linnen missing out of her house And this Informt verily believes the said Mary Field Mary Draper & Elizabeth Draper broke downe the said wall and stole away the said linnen at the same time, and further saith not.
