    Deposition: John Wilson alias Wright, Kent or Leighton Buzzard. 12 Feb. 1678 Was going to Bedford Market to buy goods. The loaded pistol found in his pocket he had found on the road. George Sole, Flitwick. Caught Jn. Wilson stealing horse out of his stable at night. William Chapman, Flitwick, innkeeper. Jn. Wilson came to his inn that night but did not stay. The Examination of John Willson als. Wright taken before [Geo. Abbott] the 12 day of February 1677 at Steppingley He sayth his name was John Wilson that he lived in Kent Afterwas he sayd his name was Wright and that he lived at Billington in the parish of Layton ... that he was Going to Bedford Market to buy Goods. That the pistoll which he had in his pocket charged he found it upon the Road. He had no money The Information of George Sole of Flitwick tanner in County of Bedford taken before me upon Oath at the abovesd time and place He sayth that About 12 of the Clock at night on the Eleventh of February Inst He heard his horse bussel and snort in the stable which Caused him to Arise and Come down into his yard, which is a Close yard Inclosed with A Barne stable and wall and Adjoyning to his house That he found his stable doore opened his hors untyed from the Manger and his halter flung over his Neck. That Imediatly after he see this Wilson alias Wright Come out of his Barne whom he layd hold of and secured The Information of William Chapman taken upon Oath before me at Stepingley on the 12th day of February .. 1677 .. He sayth That The party heer present That owneth his name to be Wilson and Wright Came into his house being the figure of the Swan at Flitwick in the sayd County with one Usher of Westning in the sayd County that this Wilson stayd til about 9 a Clock at night that this Informt offered him a bed But Wilson Refused it And sayd He must make hast to Bedford for fear of Loosing his Markett the next morning.
