    Deposition: John Radley, Clophill. tailor. 21 April 1675. Found horse, stolen when stable was broken open, in posession of Abraham Freeman, who said he had it in exchange from Nic. Thurgood. The Informacon of John Radley of Clophill taylour taken upon oath before mee Wm Daniel Esqr one of his Maties Justices of peace for this county this 21th of Aprill 1675 against Nicholas Thoroughgood & c. This informant saith that on the 8th of March last past he putt his horse about night into his stable at Clophill aforesaid & hasp'd the doore fast with an iron hasp, and the next morning he found his stable doore & the upper gate of the yard wide open & his horse gone (stolne he thinkes) out of the stable, upon which he made severall journeyes both in this county & Hertfordshire to enquire after his said horse but could heare nothing of him till about a fortnight or three weekes after he had lost him, some of this informants neighbours told him that they had heard att Shefford markett that such a horse was then at Statfold in this county in the possession of one Abraham Freeman, whereupon this informant went & found his said horse in the aforesaid Freeman's stable who told this informant that he had the horse in exchange for another of one Nicholas Thoroughgood of Broome the said 8th of March at night which happened to be the next night after this informant had lost him and further saith not.
