    Deposition: Edward Lavender. Cardington. Labourer. 26 October 1670. Confesses stealing grey nag, saddle and bridle, with £3. from Sir Geo. Blundell. Exchanged nag with a comber of wool, for a mare, which he afterwards sold in London. He spent the money. The examination of Edwife Lavender of Cardington in the county aforesd. labourer taken the 26th day of October 1670 before Mr. Robert Crompton J.P. This ex. saith that he went away from his master Sir Geo. Blundell of Cardington in the county of Beds. knight about the middle of August last and did take with him a Grey nagg saddle and bridle with three pounds in money of his sd. master and this ex. saith that he went and lay at the Red Lyon on Stanford Hill three miles from London, six weekes together (upon Yorke Rode) at the howse of one John Usher Innholder and this ex. Saith that he exchanged the sd. nagg with a coomer of wooll that drove Turkeys upon the sd. rode for a mare and that he had fifteen shillings upon swopp, but knoweth not the man's name nor where he liveth but he beleeveth the Innholder knowes where he lives; And this ex. further saith that he went from thence to London to see some friends and that there he sould the said Mare and spent the money as also the sd. three pounds he had of his sd. master and further this ex. confesseth not.
