    Deposition: Daniell Roberte. Leeds. 9 March 1671 Travelling from Leeds to London to get himself a place. From Doncaster helped a drover with his sheep for 2d. a day and meat. The Examination of Daniell Roberts late of Leeds in the county of Yorks, taken before the same JPs on March 9, 1670 This ex. sayth that he was born at Leeds in the county of Yorks and that he lived there ever since he was borne and was never out of his country to Christmas last about which time he tooke his journey for London intending there to get himself a place, and comeing upon the road about Doncaster he met with a drover who was comeing to Dunstable fayre in this county with a score of sheep, and this ex. preferred him to helpe him drive his sheepe whereupon they agreed for 2d per day and meat and drinke till he came to Dunstable; and that they came on Tuesday last within eight miles of Dunstable, where they lay all night, but this ex. knowes not at what towne they lodged nor at what house, nor signe; but in the morninge they came to Dunstable where they inned at the 3 black swans; and farther saith not.
