Robert Landale late of Tempsford. 3 December 1670.
Confesses theft of a purse containing £14. 2s., a coat and a pair of breeches from the chest of Th. Huckells, bailiff of Lady St.John and his fellow-servant. He intended to go to London had he not been stopped. The Examination of Robert Landale late of Tempsford taken before me John Ventries Esq. one of his majesties J.P.s 3rd December, 1670 This examinant being duly examined sayeth uppon Friday the second of December being in his chamber about twelve of the clocke the sayd day he found the Hindges of Thomas Huckell's chest broken and thereuppon put in his hand at the backe side of the Chest and tooke out of the chest a purse in which was fourteene pound too shillings and besides tooke away a Coate and a payre of breeches of the sayd Thomas Huckells Baylife to the Lady St. John and his fellow servant and immediately went away with them and intended to goe to London had he not beene stopt and farther sayeth not.
