    Deposition: Thomas Capeill, Cranfield, labourer 21 Oct. 1670 At house of Thomas Holmes ale house keeper in Bradwell, 15-19 Oct., then returned to Cranfield Thomas Holmes On 19 Oct. T.C. brought mutton to his house; found there by Mr. Harrison of Gt. Linford. Edwife Harrison, John Adkins Search for mutton in house of T.H. The information of Thomas Holmes of Bradwell, Bucks laborer taken upon oath the 21st day of October 1670 before St. John Charnocke Bart and J.P. This informant saith that Thos Capeill of Cranfeild Beds. laborer came to his house in Bradwell Bucks on Wednesday being the 19th day of October and brought with him two shoulders and two hind quarters of mutton and when the sd. Thos Capeill went from thence he carryed with him some of the sd. mutton but what part this informant knoweth not neither doth he know where the sd. Thomas Capeill had the sd. mutton or how he came by it but this inf. saith his house being searched by one Mr Harrison of Great Linford Bucks who had A sheep stollen from him the night before found the sd. mutton in this informant's house whereupon this informant calling to mind that Thomas Capeill might have stollen the said sheep did apprehend the sd. Thomas Capeill thereupon and further this informant saith not. The examination of Thos Capeill of Cranfeild Beds. laborer taken the same day before the same J.P. This examinant saith that he came to Bradwell Bucks on Saterday being the fifteenth day of October to the house of one Thomas Holmes alehousekeeper and there stayed till Wednesday morning following being the 19th day of October last past and from thence he went to Cranfeild in the County of Beds. to the place of his habitation and further this ex. saith not. The information of Edwife Harrison gentleman and John Adkins of great Linford Bucks laborer taken upon their oathes the 22nd day of Oct 1670 before the same J.P. These informants say that there being A fat sheep lost out of the grounds of Richard Napper Kt. in the parish of great Linford Bucks the sd. Edwife Harrison caused the sd. John Adkins to search for the sd. sheep by A warrant the sd. Edwife Harrison procured for that purpose and searching the house of one Thos Holmes Alehouse - keeper in Bradwell in the sd. County there found one hind quarter of mutton one shoulder and one leg and the sd. John Adkins asking the wife of the sd. Holmes where they had that mutton she replyed she bought it of A Traveller and questioning her more strictly she confessed that one Thos Capeill brought it thither and desired her to lay it up for him till he came for it and further the sd. John Adkins saith that he found the skin the two breasts and necks of the sd. sheep together in A fuzzen bush in the ground out of which it was stollen and further these Informants say not.
