John Wright, Cardington 5 Nov. 1670
At Shefford fair, saw Edwife Lavender taking horse of Sir. Geo. Blundell and some money. The Examination of John Wright of Cardington Beds mason taken before us Wm Boteler and Robt. Crompton the 5th day of Nov. 1670 This ex. sayth that on Michaelmas Day last past being att Shefford fair in the County aforesaid hee saw Edwife Lavender (now prisoner in the Goale of Bedford for taking away an horse from Sir. George Blundell of Cardington & some monys) and that this ex. asked the sd. Lavender whether he had his master's horse or not and the sd. Lavender confessed hee had him about a mile or two off; And that he would bring him againe to his master And the sd. ex. asked the sd. Lavender whether he had the monys hee carryed away with him from his master and the sd. Lavender confessed hee had but a little of it and that the sd. examinant advised the sd. Lavender to fling it in att the gate of his sd. Master: and further this examinant sayth not. Sir George Blundell will Present the sayd John Wright.
