    Ralph Meakes, Eynesbury, labourer 20 Dec. 1669 Confesses thefts on several occasions from Mt. Doman of St. Neots. Sold them to William Isaac's wife at Bedford, who enticed him to bring more. Also sold some to Henry Lumb & Ralph Smith of Bedford. The examination of Ralph Moakes of Eynsbury, Hunts. laborer taken before Gaius Squier J.P. the 20th December, 21 Chas 2. This ex. sayth that he hath worked severall times at Mr. Domans house in St. Neots, And confesseth that about six weekes agoe he tooke out of Mr Domans presse in his warehouse certain stuffes some of which were silke but of what value he knows not. but Mr. Doman had them againe, Also he confesseth that at severall other times he tooke out of Mr. Domans shop and warehouse hair camlet coloured prunella, black prunella, sad coloured tamarine, pink coloured tammy, black wosted farrendine. alsoe pins and boddyces, yallow tammy, holland, and white callico, And that he took out of Mr. Domans shop and warehouse a piece of silk mohaire, a piece of silk farrendine, all which things this ex. saith he sold to William Isaacks Wife of Bedford at severall times for lesse than four pounds, and he saith that the sd. William Isaacks wife inticed him to bring things to her, for which (she said) he should have ready money, that he promised to bring her more, but did not. Alsoe he confesseth that Henry Lumb of Bedford taylor had a piece of silk lute string to sell for him, which he tooke out of Mr Domans warehouse. Alsoe he saith that he sold to Ralph Smith of Bedford linnendraper a piece of silver lace of thirty yards in length for thirty shillings, and other silver lace of about eleven or twelve yards, for 14d, or sixteen pence the yard, all which lace he had out of Mr Domans shop, And further saith not.
