    Deposition: Richard Arnall, Ampthill, labourer 11 Jan. 1670. The examination of Richard of Ampthill laborer, taken the 11th day of Jan.1669 before the same coroner. This ex. sayth That on Munday the 10th of this instant January hee this ex. togeather with one Thomas Carter being in the Warren at Ampthill aforesd. att about foure of the clock in the morning looking to their conyes mett one William Evans in the warren and the sd. Carter asked him what hee did there, Who answered hee was about noe harme to him and soe they lett him goe and presently after hee this ex. found a hay pitched in the Warren and the sd. Carter went about to take upp the same hay and as they were taking upp the hay Ambrose Whitamore decd. came behind them and stroke att the sd. Carter witha long staffe and presently thereupon came also the sd. Evens and stroke att this ex. whereupon hee this ex. and the sd. Carter stood uppon their defence and it soe happened that hee the ex. beat down the sd. Whitamore and then the sd. Evans ran away and this ex. togeather with the sd. Carter brought the sd. Whitamore to the Bell in Ampthill & delivered the sd. Hay and a long staffe which they tooke from the sd. Whitamore into the hands of the cunstable & further hee sayth nott. mk. of Ric, Arnall
