    Deposition: Ann Males, Bedford, widow and midwife : 26 Apr. 1668 Examined body of Mary Cambers. The Information of Ann Males of the Town of Bedford, widow, who doth exercise the office of a midwife taken upon oath before Fra. Beckett gentleman Major, William Foster Esq., and William Riseley gentleman J.P.s, the 26th of April, 1668. This informant saith that by order of His Majesties Justice of the Peace within the said town uppon a suspition that Marie Cambers of St. Marie's parish in the said towne widow had been lately delivered of a bastard child, she the sd. informant did search the body of her the sd. Mary Cambers. And by what the Informant did discover upon her said search she doth verely beleeve that the sd. Mary Cambers was lately, to wit within a fortnight last past, was delivered of a child and further saith not. Mistress Lane this testified the same.
