    Deposition. Richard Short 10 Apr. 1666. Ursula Clarke came to his house and said that some people had wronged her, but they had as good have let her alone; she had seen end of Platt and Haddon and hoped to see the end of Metcalfe. Thomas Heywood, tailor: Elizabeth Pratt said that Mary Hudson tied knot of black wool which was betitched into bolster of sick child of Thomas Heywood; found by wife of Thomas Heywood and seen by Geo. Briggs gentleman, Eliz. wife of William Metcalfe and Mary wife of William Metcalfe jun. Heard Elizabeth Pratt say that if she had any clean linen or lights put out she had not confessed anything nor had need to. Josias Powse:Heard Mary Hudson wish that Crawley of Houghton Regis might break his neck; which happened when he fell from his horse. William Blackwell concerning quarrel between William Metcalfe and Ursula Clarke Decimo die Aprillis Anno Domini 1666 The Information of Richard Shortt of Dunstable aforesaid Taken before John Vaux and John Rotherham Esquires two of his Majesties Justices of the Peace: Who sayth upon his oath that one Ursula Clarke wife of William Clarke of Dunstable aforesaid came to the house of this informant and he sayth that the said Ursula said that some people had wronged her but they had as good have let her alone, for she said she had seen the end of Platt, and she had seen the end of Haddon, and she hoped she should see the end of Metcalfe, and that she had never wished nor cursed anything in her life but it came to passe and further sayth not. The Information of William Blacknell of Dunstable aforesaid Taken as aforesaid: Who sayth that there had been a difference betweene William Metcalfe jun. of Dunstable and Ursula wife of William Clarke, and after the said difference was agreed, the said Ursula said she never wished anything in her life but it came to passe, and she hoped to see him the said Metcalfe waste like dew against the sunn, and further saith nott. Decimo die Aprillis Anno Domini 1666 The Information of Thomas Heywood of Dunstable in the County of Beds. Taylor, taken upon oath before John Vaux and John Rotherham Esquires, two of his majesties justices of the peace of the said county. This Informant sayth that Elizabeth Pratt of Dunstable aforesaid widdow said that Mary the wife of Daniel Hudson of the said towne Tyed a knott of black wool which was bewitched into the boulster of a sick childe of this informant, and that Ellinn the wife of this said Heywood opened the boulster that the said sick childe lay upon and found a knott of wooll tyed together and that George Briggs gent, Eliz wife of William Metcalfe sen. and Mary wife of William Metcalfe jun. all of the said towne saw the said knott of Wooll, and this informant further saith that he heard the said Elizabeth Pratt say that if she had any Cleane Linnen or Lights put out, she had not confessed anything nor had noe need to confesse any thinge and further saith nott. The information of Josias Powse of Dunstable aforesaid taken as aforesaid. Who sayth that he heard Mary wife of Daniel Hudson say that she had wished one Crawley of Houghton Regis might breaks his neck, which happened indeed, for he fell from his horse and dyed, and further sayth not.
