Findings of the court: (see 24/418)
the manor of Shephoo and lands in terrier annexed
(not annexed) were anciently given to feoffes in
trust:-
to find a minister or curate to serve the cure
in the church or chapel of Over Gravenhurst;
to repair the sd. church or chapel and steeple;
to repair the bridges of Over Gravenhurst;
to meet such other common town charges as the
inhabitants think fit and convenient;
since 1578 the Earl of Kent hath permitted the
inhabitants of Over Gravenhurst to cut down timber,
and hath paid 3 yearly to the curate, and converted
the rest of the profits to his own use; yearly profits
are valued at 40 marks p.a.; therefore, deducting
the sd. 3, the Earl if to make good the residue by
instalments:- 100 next midsummer; 200 following
Lady Day; residue Lady Day 1615; a feoffment is
to be made of the lands, and deeds given to feoffees.
