The replication of Sir Hen. Grey to the answer of Sir Hen. Wyatt, kt. Grey was informed that Sir Hen. Wyatt was disposed to pull down the manor place at Wrest and to sell the timber and tile and the other stuff to his most advantage; and thereupon, for as much as the sd. Grey had then no house of his own conveniant for him to dwell in, and also for pity he had that the sd. house wherein divers and many of his ancestors had dwelt should be so utterly destroyed, he offered to buy of Sir Hen. the sd. manor and other lands in Beds. nigh unto it about the yearly value of 40; thereupon Sir Hen. sold the sd. manor of Wrest to him with other lands for 450 marks. At this time divers annuities (specified) were being paid. To provide the purchase money Sir Hen. Grey sold his woods at Burbage, also property at Snelson.
