Scope and Content
Parties:
(i) Frederick Augustus Page-Turner of 15 Palmeira Square, Hove [Sussex]; William Lee Gates of Luton, grocer; Henry Gates of Sundon, farmer; John Gates of Luton;
(ii) Luton Rural District Council;
(iii) Sundon Parish Council
Reciting:
- disagreements between the parties as to what consitituted public bridleways and footpaths in Sundon;
- (iii) had presented to (ii) that (i) had obstructed certain alleged public path from Sundon to Harlington via Chalton;
- (ii) had held an enquiry into the path;
- (i) had offered to submit the question to the Commons & Footpaths Preservation Society of 25 Victoria Street, Westminster and accept their decision as binding if (ii) and (iii) agreed to do the same;
- (ii) and (iii) agreed to (i)'s proposal;
- The Society agreed to act as arbitrators, appointing Edward North Buxton JP of Knighton, Buckhurst Hill [Essex] and Anthony Buxton of Knighton, Buckhurst Hill and Lawrence Wensley Chubb of 25 Victoria Street, westminster, secretary to act;
- a public enquiry was held in Sundon on 29 Nov 1912 and a report issued as to what were considered rights of way in Sundon
Operative Part:
- rights of way described in schedule and shown on attached map;
- (ii) and (iii) abandoned claims to any other rights of way;
- aby future dispute to be referred to Commons & Footpaths Preservation Society
