Parties: (i) Frederick Augustus Page-Turner of 15 Palmeira Square, Hove [Sussex]; William Lee Gates of Luton, grocer; Henry Gates of Sundon, farmer; John Gates of Luton; (ii) Luton Rural District Council; (iii) Sundon Parish Council Reciting: - disagreements between the parties as to what consitituted public bridleways and footpaths in Sundon; - (iii) had presented to (ii) that (i) had obstructed certain alleged public path from Sundon to Harlington via Chalton; - (ii) had held an enquiry into the path; - (i) had offered to submit the question to the Commons & Footpaths Preservation Society of 25 Victoria Street, Westminster and accept their decision as binding if (ii) and (iii) agreed to do the same; - (ii) and (iii) agreed to (i)'s proposal; - The Society agreed to act as arbitrators, appointing Edward North Buxton JP of Knighton, Buckhurst Hill [Essex] and Anthony Buxton of Knighton, Buckhurst Hill and Lawrence Wensley Chubb of 25 Victoria Street, westminster, secretary to act; - a public enquiry was held in Sundon on 29 Nov 1912 and a report issued as to what were considered rights of way in Sundon Operative Part: - rights of way described in schedule and shown on attached map; - (ii) and (iii) abandoned claims to any other rights of way; - aby future dispute to be referred to Commons & Footpaths Preservation Society Schedule of Rights of Way [with details of exact course] 1. Footpath from Upper Sundon to Chalton; 2. Footpath from NW end of Upper Sundon to Path 8 3. Bridleway from E side of Red Lion, Upper Sundon via SE corner of Leyhill Lince to Harlington 4. Footpath from corner of Harlington Road at E. of Upper Sundon through The Firs to Streatley 5. Footpath opposite Red Lion, Upper Sundon along W. side of The Mead to high road at Lower Sundon opposite Aubers Farm 6. Footpath from Toddington past The Clump to road between Upper and Lower Sundon opposite Path 14 7. Footpath from Harlington along railway to Common Barn, across Long Field to join Path 1 8. Footpath from Common Barn along the roadway to Toddington 9. Footpath from Upper to Lower Sundon road tp W. of Upper Sundon to join Path 2 near Sundon Cement Works 10. Footpath from Harlington passing Woodfield Farm and entering Sundon at The Firs to high road in Streatley 11. Footpath from S. of Upper Sundon on Streatley Road along W side of Clayton Hill to Lower Sundon to Streatley road near Aubers Farm 12. Footpath from S. end of Path 11 along W side to Town Field through Reed Field and W. side of West Ware to Luton 13. Footpath from Upper Sundon Post Office over Jacksons Field to junction of Upper Sundon and Streatley roads in Lower Sundon 14. Footpath from road from Upper to Lower Sundon opposite allotments across Jacksons Field and Peddle Field along an ancient lane to Green near White Hart 15. Footpath from high road to Chalton near Common Farm and into Toddington Witnesses: - Fred H.Haynes of Bicester Estate Office, estate clerk; - R.G.Green, clerk to W.L.Gates; - William Austin, clerk to Luton RDC; - Henry Gates, James Hucklesby and Frederick Fletcher for Sundon Parish Council Includes plan.
