Title
Correspondennce: Letters to Earl de Grey
from John Bower, Smeathalls, agent to Earl de Grey to April 1844
Since receipt of letter has been at York and seen Mr. Currer
and other promoters of apposition to the railway,
and also with Messrs. Russel the solicitors who
are active agst it. Your lordship will probably
need to present a strong Petition against the bill.
'As Mr. Hudson is a wholesale Trader in Railways
and Coals he cares little what injury may be done
to the Land Owners or their Property.' It is said
Lord Fitzwilliam is friendly to the opposition.
