- TitleTransfer of Mortgage i) Thomas Veasey, Baldock, Herts, gentleman ii) Deborah Payne, Stotfold, spinster iii) George Winters, Stratton, farmer No surrender has been made to i) of copyhold premises in above schedule, ii) only having been admitted to 2r land, in 2nd schedule, holden of Rectory Manor of Stotfold on 6 July 1860 Reciting mortgage of 8 November 1862 a) said D Payne b) said T Veasey Consideration - 70 10s paid by b) to a) - 8 cottages sometime erected by George Kempson on next described piece of land - Piece ground (24p) in Shefford Hardwick, being north eastwards of Shefford North Bridge N road from Shefford to Biggleswade E (running South eastwardly) John Foster, Esq W other ground held with same piece but late belonging to Earl de Grey were assured to use of b) to secure said sum and also said 246 10s Said sums (total - 317) are still owing with 42 19s 4d interest On 8 March 1877 iii) at request of ii) paid to i) said 317, and 42 19s 4d agreed to lend a further sum of 34 8d (total 394) and interest at 5% p.a. secured as follows Now in consideration of 359 19s 4d paid to i) by iii) and 34 8d to ii) i) at request of ii) assigns to iii) - Freehold vested by above recited deeds in i) to use of iii) subject to equity of redemption Also i) at request of ii) grants to iii) - Copyhold property Subject to equity of redemption ii) covenants that she will procure herself to be admitted tenant to the copyhold property and then surrender them to use of iii) ii) covenants to pay interest at 5% p.a. so long as principal remains unpaid Power of sale in case of default Buildings to be insured against fire with schedules of property, as above Signatures of i) and ii) Endorsed receipts Witnesses W Thos Chapman, sol, Biggleswade Chas Veasey, solicitor, Baldock, Herts 8 March 1877 Also endorsed with Reconveyance i) George Winters, now of Little Walden Park, Saffron Walden, Essex, farmer ii) William Turner, Henlow, baker In 1883 i) sold the cottages at Shefford Hardwick Reciting will of Deborah Payne by which she bequeathed all her real estate (except copyhold property) and personal estate to nephews, i), and John Payne Turner in trust for sale. Copyhold property also to be sold and proceeds divided as directed. She died on 17 June 1886. Will proved on 28 June (PPR) John Payne Turner died on 9 February 1887 No surrender has ever been made to i) of copyhold property but all principal monies have been paid Now i) as mortgagee conveys to ii) - Freehold messuages in main deed (except those at Shefford Hardwick) - Copyhold messuages subject to trusts in will Signature of i) Witness David P Winters, Biggleswade, farmer 21 July 1887 Also endorsed with 3 acknowledgements of right of production of this deed made on 1 October 1912 to Charles A Ekins, Arthur Ingrey and Elizabeth Porter
