    Abstract of title of the devisee in trust for sale in the will of Joseph Carter, deceased, to land in Meppershall reciting Lease and Release of 23 and 24 March 1767 a) John Poynter, Arlington Street, Westminster, Esq b) Benjamin Carter, Meppershall, schoolmaster consideration - 55 paid to a) by b) a) released to b) - cottage, pightle etc (3/4th of 1a) in Meppershall in occupation of Jno Hilleard then Wm Watson, at yearly rent of 3 yielding and paying to a) and Lord and Ladies of said Manor the yearly rent of 1d Power of distraint in case of default reciting also will of Benjamin Carter of 4 October 1791 (not proved) to Sarah Carter, widow of late son Benjamin Carter, deceased - all freehold estates in Meppershall on trust to receive rents etc until youngest of her children by Benjamin Carter shall attain 21. She is also to apply rents to payment of interest due on a mortgage of said estate. When youngest is is 21, estate to go to eldest son Benjamin Carter died in about 1793 and was buried at Meppershall leaving grandson Joseph Carter (eldest son of Benjamin Carter) as heir at law reciting also release of 1 October 1844 1) Joseph Carter, Meppershall, labourer 2) Thomas Horn, Ippolitts, Herts, gent consideration - 100 1) released to 2) - cottage sometime past divided into 5 and ground adjoining (3/4 of 1a) in Meppershall in occupations of Jos Carter, John Primmett, Parrott, Wm Harris and Thos Izzard - 2 cottages erected by 1) on part of said pightle annd in occupations of Thomas Crouch and John Cakebread to be reconveyed on payment of 100 and interest reciting also will of Thomas Horn of 22 January 1845 by which he appointed John sole executor. He died on 27 March 1846. Will proved 14 August 1846 (PCC) reciting also inclosure award of 15 June 1853 relating to a piece of land containing 3r 16p (no 27) allotted to Joseph Carter reciting also will of Joseph Carter of 4 August 1853 Henry Pestell of Meppershall, farmer, appointed executor to daughter Elizabeth, wife of Egram Parrott, labourer -house, garden ground, 'which I now occupy' and cottage etc in occupation of Thomas Crouch, both in Meppershall to daughter Susanna, wife of Thomas Odell, Flitton pensioner - 2 cottages at Meppershall in occupation of John Primmett and Egram Parrott to daughter Sarah, wife of William Harris, Meppershall, labourer - 3 cottages etc in occupations of William Harris, Thomas Izzard and John Cakebread to grandson, James Parrott - blacksmith's shop at Meppershall in occupation of John Cakebread to said daughter Susannah - all furniture and household effects in house he reside in at time of his decease to Henry Pestell on trust for sale - allotment of land awarded under the enclosure of Meppershall in lieu of rights of common attached to my cottage in Meppershall money arising to form part of residuary personal estate. residue of estate devised to daughters as tenants in common Will proved on 18 October 1855
