    'My Lord I have the honor to inform your Lordship that my Estimate for erecting the column with Sand stone is £820 exclusive of the carriage only of the stone from the quarry to the spot - and the use of poles for making the scaffold - this is cheaper than brick by £450 - there being 860 Cubical yards of stone required; the raising only being £43.0.0. If Bricks were used allowing them at about 30s/p m then being 73 rods worth £493.0.0 difference 450£ This Column will cost less than the reerection of Cain Hill house with the improvements contemplated by your Lordship...'
