Maps Note on scheme for maps: The firm's system of numbering maps was followed for 'A', 'B', 'C' and 'D' and this accounts for the gaps in the numbers in 'C' and 'D'. As the firm's numbering of maps was with a letter prefix it was decided to follow the 'C' & 'D' series with the letter 'E' for the few maps and plans which were found unnumbered. A large collection of plans remain uncatalogued but are listed in the green index marked 'BMB 'C' series index' which is kept with the other BMB catalogues in the public searchroom to avoid confusion with the other 'C' series these have now been classed as BMB 14/F.
