- TitleLetter: from Richard Dillingham at 7th Lincoln's Battalion, [France] to Christine Dillingham at Kings Road, Flitwick - writer notes how the time seems to slip by although the last week has seemed the longest since he has been out there; - notes he longing for the end of the war, "I feel as if I will go silly at times"; - notes there is little chance of leave for some time but thinks had he of still been in his last section he may have been home within a month; - comments that Sunday is an easy day in this camp if you are not put on any fatigues as after Church Parade he is free; - notes they had the Church Parade in the YMCA and the fellow who sleeps next to him played the piano for the hymns, "He is a schoolmaster from a village in Kent and is a jolly nice fellow nearly 40 years old"; - comments he has been having a lay down in the tents this afternoon; - asks if the boys still want to know where he is and asks if she can kiss them for him; - "Tell them I will come home to see them some day and I hope before not very long" - asks how his father and mother are; - asks how is George Mason getting on? - wonders how she is getting on with the garden and asks if she has any greens and whether she will have enough to last the winter; - asks how she gets on for money now everything is so dear; - "Praying God to take care of us all and bring us all safely through this terrible war"; - notes he is anxiously waiting for a letter form her as it is ten days since her last, "Do write as often as you can";
