Letter: from Richard Dillingham at No 21 Kite & Balloon Section RFC Camp, [France] to Christine Dillingham at Kings Road, Flitwick - writer comments what a change it is from four years ago and little did he think then of this war coming on then or how long he would be away from home; - asks her not to trouble herself in sending any things out to him; - comments that he has managed to get some matches and soap but would like some Epsom Salts or Health salts as it is such a job to get them out there as all the shops are closed to the English troops; - notes he is still staying in the dug-out; - notes that they are having some very long days as the balloon goes up at daybreak and is brought down at dusk, "Still we haven't much to grumble at as we are generally get an easy time while the balloon is up"; - comments that Bert Baker has gone out at last; - expects that Charlie Cousins or Bell don't feel very comfortable over their appeals and asks what is Billy Summerfield doing now and has Wilfred Joy gone yet?; - comments that Katie Brooks [Lady of the Manor] is going to have a "flash turn out" at the Manor, "What's it in aid of nursing I expect if Lady Ampthill is opening the affair"; - notes that the rates have gone up again and should she have any problems with money to tell his Father; - "So our boys are little beggars for quarrelling over things, but still its only natural for them to do that and it wont hurt them too much"
