- TitleLetter: from Richard Dillingham at No 21 Kite & Balloon Section RFC Camp, [Belgium] to Christine Dillingham at Kings Road, Flitwick - writer is sorry not to have included a form in his Green Letter [a letter that was not censored by the Officers] and is "mad about it" - recalls how he was called off to do another job and forgot about the letter; - comments how you must not keep an officer waiting for even half a minute but of course they can keep you waiting a week; - "Oh if anybody is getting sick of this business I am. Its all the old humbug we have to put up with but my dear I think it is drawing to a close and when I get finished with the army altogether it will be the happiest day of my life"; - notes he is sorry to have to use this green envelope as it is such a job to get them and thinks they may not get another one for months; - asks how the boys are getting on with the fruit in the garden? and suggests they should have their fill as it wont do them any harm; - comments he would love a fortnights leave but thinks it would be harder than ever to have to come away again; - asks how are next door getting on, and how is Martha now, "as big a fool as ever"; - asks if she has dug any new potatoes yet and how are the strawberries, apples and plums getting on?; - "I don't think there will be any winter campaign and that I shall be back home again with you all before then"; - notes he has received a letter from Emily & Sid the first for months;
