    Letter (on 2 sheets): from Joel Croxford of 'Iornbarks Gold Fields', W.S.W.: 'I must tell you it was I who sent those too newspapers I was on a new gold field at the time and doing very well but we gold diggirs are never satisfide for we hear of a new gold fields braking out in some other country wher they say people are making rapped fortune so I must tell you that I have had a trip to newcelond since then which I must say was a pleasure trip for I went with the mailboat and called in every habbour in that country but newzealand was to cold for me so I sone return to melbourn and made my way back to the lambing flat whear I stade about 18 months and from there I came to the ironbarks these wear the first gold feilds I wear every on and I found my ould and respected mate John Smith there and comfortably settle in life and I must say I wear well received for he sold me a share in his pugmill and bought me a good horse and carte too work with him... My dear niece Hephzibah... I have found a smol nugit of gold to day which I will make a present to you for a keepsake for me.'
