Lesser Wilcox close and mead. cont 40 a. Jas. and wife Eliz. which are to remain free of all sevices due to lord of manor all ten. etc. on N. side of Clophill brook granted to (i) by Letters Patent 1-3-1626/7, (2nd yr. late King's reign) and 4-4-1628 (4th year of same) to Jas. Beverley father of (i); except those customary lands on N. side of brook still in hands of tenants land purchased by (i) or father fr.Rbt.Wilcox Wm. Norman and Ralph Atterton. farm in Clophill bt. of Sir Wm.Bryers in ten. of (i) Jn. Stevens Th. Howe, Jos Tidd, farm or manor bt. by (i) of Wm. Wimmonshold except such waste ground as will give a 7' freeboard to above excepted properties for ditching same such, if any waste ground as has been enclosed in the excepted premises, and all wayes and feedings to excepted premises. Demise of 60 yrs. made by will of Wm. uncle of (i) to Wm's wife My. dated 3-11-1600. (ii) to pay 25.13.4d. of rent of 32-6-8d. due to King under Letters Patent recited above, for grant of site of manor of Cainhoe, the warren and diverse meadows closes etc. (ii) to pay 7-2-7 of the 23-14-6d. due to King under same for grant of the manor of Clophill and Cainhoe, Pidley wood, Howgrove etc. (ii) grants 'as much as in her is' stints and rights of common etc. due to (i) and tenants of the 'excepted land' tag for seal of (i) witnesses; Th.
