Whereas bro Wm left to bro Geo and testator by his last
will: Messuage, tenement or farm etc called Hornbeam
Hall, Bishops Hatfield, Herts, then in occ of Widow
Bosly, and now or late in tenure of - Markham, his
undertenants or undertenant as Tenants in Common
gives his moiety to bro Geo for life THEN to Benj
Cherry of Hertford, Butcher, as Trustee to pay rents
(after taxes and repairs) to son Jn Bassill for life
with Reversion to Gndsn Hen Archer. If Hen dies before
21 with no issue, then to his sister Mary Archer
BUT if she receives it before 21 then rents to her
Mother Mary Archer 'and be by her applied' towards
clothing and maintenance 'of such of them as shall
be intitled thereto'.
to dau Mary Archer: messuage or tenement wherein
testator now dwells, in liberty of Brickenden
with 2 tenements adj, late in two several tenures
or occupations of Daniel Belsham and Robt Fincher
but now in occ of - Kent and dau Mary Archer or
their undertenants

surr to use of Will)
To dau Mary for life, Reversion to gndsn Wm Archer
and his heirs; Reversion to gndsn Hen (if Wm dies
before 21 without issue); Reversion to gnddau Mary
(if Hen dies without issue before 21). Ultimate
Reversionary Mary.
BUT subject to John Bassill (son) having right to
free use of messuage or tenement where testator's
dau dwells EXCEPT Pump in the yard to use of this
messuage and Ho where testator dwells
Own house charged with Land Tax etc of house
where dau dwells until death of son Jn Bassill
To Mary Archer (dau), Benj Cherry and Jeremiah
Hammond, the ynger, of Hertford, Mealman, sum
of 1000 out of personal estate as Trustees to
invest money and out of interest clothe and maintain
son Jn Bassill for life. Reversion of interest to
day Mary
THEN on her death to gnddau Mary 200 BUT
gndsns Wm and Hen 400 each. Reversion first
to issue and then to other beneficiaries of this
bequest. Money to be paid at 21. If can get
1000 out immediately after death, residue of personal
estate to be charged 4%
To Trustees 200 for Mary Archer until 21
to son Jn Bassill 'such pt of my Household
Furniture as my Executors and Trustees,
hereinafter named shall think fit and necessary
to furnish the messuage or tenement hereinbefore
allotted and appointed for his habitation.'
AND large silver cup, 4 silver table spoons,
four silver tea spoons, two silver salts, a silver
Pepper Box and silver watch and such pt of Household
linen as Trustees shall think fit.
Residue of Household furniture to dau Mary.
On testator's decease, son Jn Bassill will
immediately after my decease become entitled to
a copyhold messuage and lands in Sandbridge, Herts,
which was settled in jointure upon testator's late
wife.
Executors to pay costs of Fine out of Personal
Estate
son Jn 5 immediately after testator's burial
to Benj Cherry and Jeremiah Hammond 5 5s each
Residue of money, securities and stock in trade,
chattels, personal estate etc (incl lease of
Watercorn Mills in Liberty of Brickendon and
lands belonging, NOW in own occ)
To Mary Archer, widow, Benj Cherry and Jeremiah
Hammond as Trustees, to carry on using Mills
'and trade and business thereof to be carried on
in such manner as I have usually done' and to use
residue of personal estate and effects to that
purpose, for equal benefit of testator's dau Mary,
and her two sons Wm and Hen Archer until Hen 21.
AND then in trust to sell and dispose of Lease
with all said stock and residue of personal estate
THEN pay dau Mary Archer 300 (or on marriage)
residue to be divided equally between Wm and Hen but
can buy out Lease at fair appraisement
BUT trustees have power to sell before Henry 21
then pay 300 to Testator's dau Mary Archer,
residue to be placed at interest for benefit of
Wm and Hen to get one moiety when 21, one moiety
when 24

Codicil
revokes legacy of 400 to Wm Archer - 100 of
which to go to gnddau Mary Archer
300 to dau Mary for her own use
revokes clauses re Mills. Trustees to hold mills
as before in conjunction with gndsn Wm Archer for
equal benefit of dau Mary and gndsn Wm Archer for
4 years after testator's death
After 4 years: 200 to dau Mary for own use
400 to gndsn Hen Archer, when he shall be 6 months
out of his apprenticeship
300 to gnddau Mary Archer when 21
Residue + Lease of Water Cornmills to gndsn
