    folio 40. (originally blank and overuled) A later terrier has been interleaved at this point, of which details are as follows: 'A Terrar of what heretofore constituted Negus's Farm, situate and being in the Parishes of Stondon and Shitlington and County of Bedford, now let with the old Stondon Farm to Mr. William Long. The Terrar made in 1777 by Joseph Cole.' The land was purchased by the Earl of Hardwicke of the Reverend Mr. Whitehurst of Hitchin, and laid to the old Farm 1769. In four columns, including summary, details from which are as follows: The fallow season 1777 - 21a 3r 20p Breach - 18a 1r 28p Tilth - 23a 1r 6p Total of Common Field Land and Meadowing - 63a 2r 14p Inclosed and several Land - 17a 3r 34p Total of Heretofore Negus's Farm - 81a 2r 8p (In a later hand are added details of 0a. 2r. 23p. of land 'Missed in this survey of the Farm', bringing the total to 82 0 31) Note: The terrier gives details of field names and acreages etc. of enclosed and open field land, with cross references to the map of Stondon by James Fish of Warwick dated 1700 (see L33/286 map X)
