  • Title
Letter Mr Bennett writes that he has not been able to meet with Woodcraft to make enquiries about pheasants and partridges' nests which may have been disturbed but he has seen Love who reported that the conduct of the farm labourers in his district is very satisfactory - where pheasants have been disturbed they have either taken the eggs to Love or given him immediate information about them without expecting any reward for doing so beyond what was settled last year. The exception is the Woburn accommodation closes where the mowing is done by people unconnected with the farmer, who consequently have no chance of sharing in the "largess". He reports that the district has been "uncommonly quiet lately" - probably because everyone is fully employed. The only trouble is on Sundays when "the immense lot of railways workers" is walking about.
