Letter Reads- Bennett reports that Gearing's 10 will be paid to the Bedford Office and Gearing will be informed quarterly how much of his payments have gone to interest and reduction of principal and the amount of debt due. Goss's produce of wood does not include the sale of Park timber because this has always been treated as distinct and extra from the ordinary wood sales. Goss's expenditure covers everything charged upon the wood:- salaries, labour, tithe rates etc. Purchase of Forest Hill for planting and Nursery. The last year's account includes the charges on the Ampthill Woods but there is no Ampthill produce in mid-June. The current year, when completed will show a year's produce as well as a year's expenditure (including Ampthill) Chapman's death and the arrangement of his affairs are mentioned. Bennett proposes to let College Farm to Mrs. Chapman for seven years, being satisfied that her management, under the guidance of Bodger and Prole will be satisfactory. Bennett points out that College farm is only leasehold for 10 years and it would be imprudent to let it for any period more than seven years. Heygate has become impatient regarding the Park keys. Bennett has explained to him the reasons for the delay:- the Duke's absence from home and the proposed formulation of new regulations.
