- TitleLetter Reads- Day's offer for Eaton good; if Duke agrees, as well to strike while iron hot; no expense of auctioneers. I think 48,000 the very outside price, if competition. Think Duke ought to complete repair at Horrell's in progress (farmhouse, barn, piggeries; also weather-boarding barns). Day should take rents from Michaelmas & pay interest at 3 or 3%; if purchase not complete Michaelmas 1843, interest should be advanced to 4%, for by then the rental will be improved. The only thing out of the usual run is Horrell's draining; Day must reimburse Horrell expense. If Eaton is sold, and in a little time there are savings to lay out, why not redeem land tax on present property rather than buy other land; Woburn & Ampthill pay about 1,500 per annum. But if the Duke prefers to buy land, offer likely at Clapham; Lord Ashburnham nearly sold this year. Question of Cople insurance: how much? 3,000? When is B yng occupying?
