    Letter Reads- May of Ampthill asks for subscription from Duke for low-price coal for poor; Lord & Lady H. used to give 10. A good deal of distress in the villages round Ampthill; no work in the woods in winter, several out of work, farmers (uncertain) slack in employing more; but such things occur with property transfer, will work itself right; meanwhile hard on poor.
