Letter Reads- Northampt. Mercury has "flaming" advertisement about Eversholt National Schools under Duke's patronage; suggest drawing Duke's attention; he was so careful recently at Westoning that Pearce, vicar, should know he could not approve of the National or exclusive system, and would give more to a school on more liberal plan than to National. The main mover is Martin - excitable & sanguine; may have got Duke's sanction but without telling him the principles; he also assumes trustees of town estate will give site; don't think they have power under donor's will - it is to repair church & give surplus to poor.
