Letter Reads- Tenantry want to attend Duke's funeral; justly lamented. I told them Duke wanted it quiet. Why not let those who wish be present in church but not procession? Valuation. Stock-taking. Proposal to draw in horns at Chenies: get authority from Duke to intimate to Lord Wriothesley that only necessities will be done. I know him so well that I am sure, when the almshouses are finished something else will spring up. Reducing scale of farming could be done by letting Priestley farm, which has a good house, also Flitwick warren farm. Qn. of hanging some part of Woburn church with black. If you don't do anything, parish will (as they did at king's death) cover pulpit, reading-desk, communion table with black.
