Letter Reads- Lidlington parish have cottage & 3 roods at Boughton End, which commissioners say they must sell, and which they offer to Duke for 100; it adjoins Platt's estate. We shall probably lose Baker from the George; the railway has so changed the posting that, without more arable on which to employ the horses occasionally required for posting, it won't answer him to continue. I told him I thought he could develop the brewing and the corn & seed trade. But he has been offered a 500-acres farm at Sundon by P. Turner. If he goes, I suggest closing the Goat & having one principal inn for posting & coaching; there are still a few coaches on the road. Overman, & bad feeling in the Ampthill Board, particularly with Thomas.
