Letter from Robert Butcher to Mr. Robinson Reads- The Duke desires you to inform Mr. Dyson that, if the Acts of Parliament for beautifying Tavistock and Woburn don't pass, his only disappointment will be that of not rendering the service he intended; and asks what the chances are for the Tavistock one; if slight, he will drop it. As to the Woburn one, he feels sure the saving clause would have reserved to Mr. Staunton his right to dispose of the 40s. p.a. arising from the 2 a. land purchased with money left by his ancestors to Woburn, in spite of his name being misspelt Stanton; but the Duke would not mind the 2 a being left out of the bill, and his donation being 28 p.a. instead of 30 p.a. Please see Mr. Rigby and let him know Duke wants the Woburn bill passed before the holiday. Transcript available
