  • Title
Letter from Charles Hayes of Hatton Garden to Willoughby & Butcher Reads- "I always thought till now that carpenters and bricklayers are more proper judges of what was so fix'd to the premises that a tenant might or might not lawfully take away before the expiration of his lease, than any attorney in Westminster hall. But since you are pleased to determine it otherwise, I shall only tell you that I will much sooner chuse to submit to any injustice which it may be in your power to do me upon this occasion than give so honourable and worthy a nobleman as the Duke of Bedford the least trouble about it. The difference between us will neither add much to the Duke's Estate, nor very much diminish mine, and therefore, I leave it to you to do as you shall see fit by."
