    Draft Abstract of Title to Freehold and Copyhold Land at Toddington [all handwritten on the backs of posters addressing the burgesses of Dunstable to vote for Albert Gutteridge in municipal election of 1 Nov 1906] (I) will of John Foll of Old Park Farm, Toddington, farmer of 14 Jan 1851 appointing his sons-in-law John Anstee and James Gutteridge and his nephew Richard Howes as executors and devised to his wife Joyce Foll his messuage with several pieces of ground attached in Toddington which he purchased from Elizabeth Thornton, James Turney and Richard Turney for her life, remainder to his executors in trust for sale the money to be put to the use of his will (II) death of John Foll on 16 Jan 1851 (III) proof of will of John Foll in PCC on 23 Jul 1851 (IV) Copy court roll 13 Jun 1867 of Manor of Toddington Reciting: - admission of John Foll on 28 Jul 1843 to: (a) messuage in Parsonage End, Toddington with orchard and pightle of pasture adjoining containing 2 acres formerly in occupation of Richard Fensome, then Thomas Patch, the John Cotchin; (b) 3 closes containing together 18a 0r 19p surrendered to John Turney, deceased, formerly husband of Elizabeth Fensome, by Thomas Patch and William Bright and described as lying in Windmill and Conduit Hill Closes containing 16a 1r 29p bounded: on part E and part N by first allotment to Abraham Bright; on other part N and E by ancient enclosures late of George Gurney Hobbs, Rt.Hon.Thomas Conolly, John Potts, gentleman, William Foxon, Joseph Osborn and Rebecca, his wife, Abraham Bright and John Fowler; on part S and part E by first allotment to John Fowler; on part S and W by allotment to William Foxon; on NW by Woburn Road; (c) close of 7 acres called Workhouse Close surrendered by Thomas Patch and William Bright to John Turvey as piece of ground in Upper Field, Toddington of 7 acres including the road passing over it and bounded: NE by 4th allotment to Thomas Drinkwater; part SE by 2nd allotment to Mary Dix; part SE by allotment to Thomas Foxon; part SE by allotment to Joseph Sabin; on SW by allotment to George Spufford; on NW by 3rd allotment to Abraham Bright, 2nd and 1st allotments to Mary Hobbs and allotments to John Freeman, Francis Hall and Edward Horley junior and late in occupation of Thomas Patch; (d) piece of ground in Upper Field, Toddington of 5a 3r 30p including road passing through it which, with a piece of ground called The Lake of 2a 1r 20p, were laid together and formed into one close containing 8a 1r 10p known as Workhouse Close of which the 5a 3r 30p were surrendered by Thomas Drinkwater to John Turney as being bounded: N and part W by 3rd allotment to Thomas Drinkwater; part W by ancient inclosure on Richard Gilpin junior; part E by Dunstable Road; part S and part E by allotment to William Willison; part E by 1st allotment to Mary Dix; part S by 4th allotment to Abraham Bright; part W by allotment to Edward Horley, 2nd allotment to Zaccheus Coles and 2nd allotment to Joseph Osborn and allotment to Minister & Churchwardens of Toddington in trust for the poor (a)-(d) all being in occupation of John Cotchin (V) at court of 25 Jul 1851 death of John Foll was presented and 1st proclamation made (VI) at court of 17 May 1866 the second proclamation was made (VII) at court of 23 May 1867 the third proclamation was made and John Anstee, James Gutteridge and Richard Howes, by N.Carter, their attorney, presented the will of John Foll and the fact that Joyce Foll was dead without being admitted and were themselves admitted (VIII) Indenture of 17 Jan 1870 between (1) John Anstee and Richard Howes; (2) James Gutteridge; (3) William Anstee of Tythe Farm, Chalton, Toddington, farmer in which (1) appointed (3) to replace (2) as fellow trustee of will of John Foll, the estate then consisting of: (a) freehold land in Conduit Hill Close of 1a 1r 30p; (b) piece of freehold land formerly called The Lake of 2a 1r 20p; (c) copyhold messuage in Parsonage End with orchard and pightle of pasture containing together 2 acres; (d) 3 copyhold closes containing together 18a 0r 19p; (e) copyhold land containing 7 acres called Workhouse Close and adjoining the workhouse; (f) plot of copyhold land in Upper Field containing 5a 3r 30p now joined with (b) to form one close of 8a 1r 10p and called Workhouse Close (IX) admission of 25 Feb 1870 of John Anstee, Richard Howes and William Anstee to (a)-(f) in (VIII) above on surrender of John Anstee, Richard Howes and James Gutteridge (X) Appointment of 5 Dec 1894 by William Anstee of Albert Gutteridge as trustee of will of John Foll after deaths of John Anstee on 14 Aug 1870 and Richard Howes in Oct 1888 and noting the the copyhold cottage (c) had been sold to Rev.J.Clegg for 135/13/8 which had been invested in 3% consolidated annuities (XI) admission of William Anstee and Albert Gutteridge at court of 28 Nov 1894 to (a)-(b), (d)-(f) in (VIII) above and the 138/13/8 on surrender of William Anstee
