    Richard Savill and John Langley, Churchwardens of Cardington and Richard Haynes and George Palmer, Overseers of the Poor of Cardington with the consent of two Justices of the Peace for the County have put apprentice to Phillip Hayward one Edward Ashwell and have given with the said Edward Ashwell on new suit of apparell besides his old one na dten shillings at the sealing hereof. They and their successors to give 20 shillings more next Christmas, twenty shillings more at Christmas 1688. Term of six years. Witnesses William Yarnton & Thomas Emery. Justices of the Peace George Blundell, Edmund Gardner.
