  • Title
Letter from Frogmore Cumming, Vicar of Keysoe to Rev.J.Hailstone, Bursar of Trinity College, Cambridge: - meeting referred to in P48/26/4 had occurred; - Mr.Welstead, agent for Mr.Crawley, had set up a modus against the Vicar's claim for small tithes, the Inclosure Commissioners deciding in Welstead's favour; - he had subsequently discovered that all other proprietors, including Corpus Christi College, Oxford, had abandoned their claims to a modus and that Welstead had laid the case before Crawley who, he hoped, would give up his claim too; - Cumming had thus not yet sought a legal opinion on the matter; - Cumming felt that Mr.Hampson of Luton, who directed Crawley in his dealings, had not acted properly in the matter
