BUSHMEAD PRIORY
A priory of Black or Austin Canons founded by Hugh, son of Oliver Beauchamp in the reign of Henry II and dedicated to the Virgin Mary; its annual value at suppression was 71/13/9.5 and in 1537 its site was granted to Sir William Gascoigne, Comptroller of the Household to Cardinal Wolsey
