    CONVEYANCE 26 February 1909 and plan, from 1) Mary Ruffhead, widow of The Castle Hotel, Wickford, Essex and James Charles Ruffhead, Job Master, of The Bungalow, Wickford to 2) George Ruffhead, blacksmith of Stevington, for 60 in fee simple of a) 1ac 1r 10p close of pasture at Church End, otherwise Church Street, Steventon, formerly copyhold but by deed 25 May 1900 enfranchised, formerly occ by John Poole then Robert Cox and now by (2), coloured pink on plan in margin, b) 37 poles of land with 88' frontage to Church Street, Steventon, formerly a garden and 4 dwellinghouses recently pulled down, coloured yellow on plan in margin, to which James Ruffhead was admitted tenant 5 June 1902. Recites (I) James Ruffhead late of the Castle Hotel, Wickford, licensed victualler, deceased, was seised in fee simple of the freehold and in customary fee simple of the copyhold, and in his will dated 5 January 1907 appointed party (1) and his brother the said George Ruffhead as trustees. After certain bequests not affecting this freehold or copyhold, he devised all his copyhold estate to his trustees to be sold within 21 years of his death, and all his real and personal estate to his trustees to sell. Recites (II) James Ruffhead died 12 June 1907, will pro 12 September 1907. Recites (III) indenture 5 December 1908 between 1) Mary Ruffhead, James Charles Ruffhead and George Ruffhead 2) George Ruffhead. Recites (i) George Ruffhead desired to retire from the trusteeship and party (1) consented. Covenant by (2) to produce scheduled deeds beginning with: for freehold - Deed of Enfranchisement 25 May 1900; copyhold - Steward's copy admission of Joseph Robinson 22 March 1893.
