    LEASE 3 July 1925 and plan between 1) James Harold Howard esq of The Grange, Kempston (owner), 2) Harry Quenby of Old Rowney Farm, Shefford, 3) The Mayor Aldermen and Burgesses of the Town of Bedford (lessees). Property: land on the right or southern bank of the river Ouse, Kempston, containing 50 sq yds, part of Ordnance Survey (1901 edition) plot number 249, coloured pink on plan, for 5 years from March 1925 for 20s pa. The lessees covenant to - erect a 4' 6" chestnut pale fencing on all boundaries except the River boundary - allow only suitably attired bathers to use the premises, bathing from the Bathing Shelter on the opposite or northern side of the river; and not to allow dressing or undressing on the premises, only to use it as a place to which such bathers can swim and rest before swimming back to the northern side of the river - prevent bathers landing on the right or southern bank except on these premises.
