INDENTURE 15 March 1887 between 1) John Christie McNair formerly of Exmouth, now 16 Russell St, Bath and Revd George Robert Winter formerly of E Bradenham but now of Swaffham Vicarage, Norfolk, 2) James Howard esq of Clapham Park, Bedfordshire. Reciting (I) - conveyance 1842. Reciting (II) - settlement 1842 [see previous entry for parties] made on the marriage of Harry Thornton to Caroline Margaret Christie, nominating party 5) as trustees. Reciting (III) - Caroline Margaret Thornton died 1881. Reciting (IV) - Harry Thornton died 28 November 1885. Reciting (V) - in 1886 the property was sold at auction to James Howard for 17,500 plus the purchase of the timber for 775. Witnesses - E Watson, Lt General, 2 Portland Place, Bath and Barnard G Smith, clerk in Holy Orders, Swaffham, Norfolk.
