All bounded N by River Ouse, E by George Livius esq (nos. 17, 36, 11, 12 & 34 in this schedule), S by Bedford Road, SW by John Saunders (nos. 6 and part of no. 32), and W by Robert Denis esq then belonging to Revd Edmund Riland Williamson. These 5 allotments were then subdivided [acreages given]: - 1. Reciting (III) Will of Henry Littledale late of Craigs Court, Charing Cross and Kempston Grange. - to trustees, his freehold Mansion House & lands in Kempston called Kempston Grange to permit his niece Julia Anne Frances Thornton to occupy the house, stables, gardens, pleasure grounds, entrance lodge and the adjoining land subject to rent and certain conditions, with permission to Trustees to sell at their discretion to pay his debts, including 10,000 borrowed from (2) in order to purchase the Kempston property, and 3000 lent to him by Julia Anne Frances Thornton. - to Harry Thornton and Arthur Littledale, the residue Reciting (IV) Henry Littledale died 22 June 1866, will pro 7 August 1866 Reciting (V) Agreement 8 March 1867 between 1) Charles Richard Littledale esq of Scarlets, Berks, Arthur Littledale esq of The Heyes, Prestbury, Gloucestershire, and Harry Thornton esq of Goldington Bury, 2) John Dixon, a Lieutenant Colonel in HM Army, of Craigs Court, Charing Cross, Middlesex. Recites - JAFT has elected to occupy Kempston Grange, so the sale of the estate has been postponed. - (2) has agreed that, to facilitate the settlement of the will, he will accept the estate as security for the 10,000 debt instead of repayment. - Arthur Littledale and Harry Thornton agree to repay half the mortgage of 10,000 each out of their share of the estate.
