From: Samuel Whitbread I at Bedwell To: Thomas Strong I have been at Cardington & have had a conversation with the Brother of the late Mr.Franklyn, who has seen Mrs.Ellen Wells & her two nieces, one of which is very ill - the youngest; the Eldest is 18, a sensible young woman & has had a good Education & Mr.Franklyn tells me & I believe what he says, that Mrs.Wells & her nieces have heard of this proposal of L.Rowland but they cannot accept of it & that Mr.Lovesay has not the power over them he pretends to, nor does he treat them as his clients. I believe you may rest assured they will agree to a compromise as is talked of but will try the issue Q[uery] will it be proper for me to inform Mrs.W or should they inform him or venture the sending it to Lovesay who may take Ellen at disadvantage. Lovesay uses them very ill indeed; he is for the Defendants. Did you send me that letter I wrote for?
