Patricia moved to The Hare Inn, Southcott village with her family in 1957, where initially they managed the pub, but later became tenants. References are made to the nearby Rothschild stud and Chelsea Green estate. The discussion includes alterations to the interior as it changed from beerhouse to pub over 25 years. The pub sold sweets and crisps as there was no local corner shop. The celebration of Valentines day is described and references to Christmas Day and New Years Day are made. The Kings Head at Ivinghoe is recalled as being "a nice place for a posh meal".
