Interview with Mrs Audrey Cross born 1931, in Kent. Later of Bletchley. Mrs Cross, formerly Walker, moved to The Ship at Linslade with her family in 1938. The discussion includes alterations to the pub in 1939 with the modernisation of downstairs. Also alterations to the grounds of the pub, which included a barn and stables, with half of the paddock made into a car park. Phipps the brewers are mentioned and several references are made to the war including V E Day, rationing and evacuees of William Ellis school, London, sharing The Cedars, school, Leighton Buzzard. Also reference to Mrs Cross's first job as a corsetier for C. W Tucker until 1982.
