Fitzpatrick, & Fred. Carpenter (hereafter called 'the trustees'), £10,000 in trust for wife for life, then to fall into residuary estate. - To son Talbot in tail, all freehold real estate. In default to other sons, then w., then bro. Thos., then sister Emma Carpenter, then her son Fred., then to her other children. Who ever comes into the prop. by intermarriage shall change his name to Talbot Barnard. Trustees to hold prop. during minorities. - All copyhold estates to come under same terms as the freehold. - All leaseholds, under the same conditions as near as possible. - If testor has other sons then, (a) if only 1 other, £30,000, (b) if 2 other, £20,000 each, (c) if 3 or more, £50,000 in equal shares. The sum to be invested by the trustees, who may advance up to 1/3 of each child's share towards its maintenance. - To trustees, residual estate, to purchase lands to be held on same trusts as above. In meantime to be invested & sale of lands can be postponed. Money to be used for purch. of any estate for not less than 60 yrs. & near other props. - Trustees to raise £10,000 in trust for sister Emma & her heirs. Interest on this to be used for maintenance of her children if they are minors at her death. - To trustees, all mortgage & trust estates. - Wife, then trustees, to be guardians of children. Grant for his education. On his age of 25 (if in C.of E.) to be vested in him, otherwise to become pt. of residual estate. - The Hoo, Kempston, to w. for life, with power to lease for up to 7 yrs. - If more that 1 son (a) if 1 more £6,000, (b) if 2 or 3 more, £5,000 each, (c) if 4 or more, £25,000 in equal shares.
