    Blunham Notice of apportionment of rent charge addressed to the Rev. Jacob Henry Brooke Mountain, D.D, Rector of the parish of Blunham By the Inclosure Act for Blunham and Northill it was enacted that the Inclosure Commissioners should allot to Godfrey Thornton, Esq., instead of the Rector of Blunham, certain lands set out in respect of the tithes, moduses in lieu of tithes and other ecclesiastical dues (except Easter offerings, mortuaries and surplice fees), payable to the Rector of Blunham within Moggerhanger, Chalton and South Mills in Blunham. Commissioners were to ascertain yearly value of allotments so payable to Godfrey Thornton and regard them as a corn rent. To set out to Godfrey Thornton from lands awarded to him in lieu of his own estate such parts thereof as they consider equal in value to those awarded to him in place of the Rector of Blunham. Rent chargeable on all the lands awarded to him. Power given to Godfrey Thornton to apportion rent on the lands concerned. Notice of such division to be given to the Rector in writing and registered in the Office of the Archdeacon of Bedford. To facilitate the ascertaining the quantity of wheat which was to govern the said yearly rent and lands on which is charged map and schedule to be prepared. By Award of 20 November 1799 the Commissioners awarded 2 pieces of land (203a 3r 29p and 111a 6p) in lieu of tithes. Yearly value - £306 19s 4d. To secure regular payment of said rent they awarded to Godfrey Thornton in lieu of his own estate 2 pieces of land containing 276a 3r 39p and 8a 2r 32p Corn rent now payable in lieu of tithes is £456 11s 11?d per annum Now Harry Thornton, Charles John Pearse, Sir Robert John Harvey, George Percy Elliot, Thomas Godfrey Sambrooke and Seymour Teulon, being the owners of the lands charged with the said rent charge, have lately contracted to sell said lands by public auction in several lots (lots 1, 2 and 4) Lot 1 was sold to Edward Henry Dawkins, William Honywood and Henry Lake Lot 2 was sold to George Smith Lot 4 to Charles Powers Said lands charged with said yearly rent, as follows: Lands in 1st schedule (coloured pink in map on deed and part of Lot 1) with £239 3s 11?d Lands in 2nd schedule (coloured green on plan and part of Lot 2) with £131 17s 4d Lands in 3rd schedule (coloured brown being other part of Lot 2) with £84 2d Lands in 4th schedule (coloured yellow being part of Lot 4) with £1 10s 6d With plans and Schedule [as overleaf] 1st schedule Lands charged with rent of £239 3s 11?d which have been conveyed to the Rev Henry Dawkins, Moggerhanger House, William Honywood, Chilton House, Bucks., and Henry Lake, Lincoln's Inn, gentleman referring to 18 named pieces of land in Blunham, near the river and the road from Bedford to Barford and numbered from 47 to 65 (total 314a 3 35p) 2nd schedule Lands charged with rent of £131 17s 4d which have been conveyed to Frederick Hogg, Girtford, merchant referring to another 18 named pieces of land in Blunham, bounded by Spur Bridge, Girtford Farm, the road from Bedford to Girtford Bridge and another road going NE, and numbered from 102 to 120 (total 174a 15p) 3rd schedule Lands charged with rent of £84 2d and sold to George Smith of Potton, farmer referring to 10 named pieces of land in Blunham, adjoining the above on the E and bounded by the river, Spur Bridge and a road going E, and numbered from 94 to 101 with parts of 83 and 113 (total 11a 2r 16p) 4th schedule Land charged with the rent of £1 10s 6d conveyed to Charles Power, Biggleswade, miller referring to part of plot 86 (Mill Close) (total 2a) signatures of Henry Thornton C J Pearse R J Harvey G P Elliott T G Sambrooke S Teulon E H Dawkins W Honywood H Lake F Hogg endorsed notification of service of copy on Dr Mountain notification of registration
