    George Street, Luton. Agreement (copy) (i) Frank Chapman Scargill, Luton, gentleman (ii) Alfred William Lindsell, 146, Adelaide Road, South Hampstead, Middx, straw plait merchant (iii) Gustavus Jordan, Luton said parties agree to carry out scheme for making a way eighteen feet wide from George Street, Luton, to Cheapside "according to plan hereby annexed" [not present]. (i) agrees with (ii) and (iii) that he will, within the next year; 1) Pull down all buildings on land belonging to him included in said scheme 2) give up to the public that portion of land belonging to him (as marked on plan) for purpose of making said way 3) to form road from George Street to Barbers Lane to required levels, with hard materials 4) to make a footpath of York Stone pavements (part of said 18 foot way) along entire frontage of his property to said proposed way. To be 5ft wide 5) to bear his proportionate share of cost of constructing and laying down Limmer Asphalte or Patent Wood Block as now used in London, over said roadway 6) to lay proper sewer along said road between two points (as on plan) and to make connection with sewer in Barbers Lane, and to construct cesspools 7) to pay to (iii) £100 as a consideration for ground to be given up and works to be done by him also (ii) agrees with (i) and (ii) that he will, within next year: 1) Pull down all buildings on land belonging to him including in said scheme 2) Surrender to public that portion of land belonging to him (as marked on plan) for purpose of making said way 3) Make a footpath (part of said 18 foot way) of York stone pavements five feet wide along entire length of his property fronting said proposed way 4) Bear his share of cost of asphalting or laying down Wood Block 5) Pay £100 to (iii) also (iii) in consideration of £100 and £100 paid by (i) and (ii) promises that he will, within next year: 1) give up land for purpose of widening Barbers Lane and making proposed 18 foot way 2) to make York Stone footpath (5 foot wide) along his entire frontage 3) to bear cost of laying down Limmer Asphalte or Patent Wood Block also (i) and (ii) mutually agree that their joint right of way from George Street shall be surrendered to public use sigs of all wit William Austin, articled law clerk, Luton endorsed receipt
